Oracle GBU visited our campus [ Amrita University ] in 2021 for the placement drive and I would like to share my experience with the community.

All the assessments are conducted on oracle’s own platform. The interview process consisted of 5 rounds. [1 aptitude, 1 coding, 3 technical ].

The first round was subdivided into many categories. The total time was around 1.5–2 hrs.

a. Aptitude

b. Verbal [ RC and grammar ]

c. Reasoning

d. Programming logic.

The next round was purely coding. There were 2 questions with 1 hr of time given. The questions were

a. A modification of Dijkstra’s algorithm

b. Given a word and a grid of letters find the coordinates of the word in the grid.

Around 40 got shortlisted for the interviews.

The 1st round of the interview was technical. After the introduction, the interviewer asked me some basic questions in JAVA. Following this, I was asked to share my screen and I was given some questions and was asked to code the solution. After that, the interviewer went deep dive into JAVA and DBMS concepts. Towards the end, he gave me a database and asked me to write some SQL queries. This round lasted 40–50 min.

The 2nd round was based on my resume. Though he didn’t go deep into any projects that I did, he asked me why I did a particular project and what knowledge I gained from it. He asked some HR questions on teamwork and other things. This round lasted 30–35 min.

The 3rd round was deep-dive into all the projects that I did. I was AWS certified, so it started with questions on cloud and why cloud. Then he went onto my other projects asking about the project. He spent almost 10–15 min on each project. Then he asked me questions about JAVA and its compilation process. This round lasted 50–55 min approx.

The interviewers were very friendly in their approach and I felt like I was having a conversation rather than a question and answer session.

I would summarize by saying that doing quality projects and knowledge in DSA can get you through the interviews.

Wish you all the best in your preparations!🙌
