The Pixel 4A.
Google entered the budget segment last year with the introduction of Pixel 3A which became a hot cake in the budget segment. Though not powered by the best chipset, the pixel sold itself on the merit of its camera. The next obvious step was the Pixel 4A
Google approaches the budget segment this year with a more aggressive design body. It houses a snapdragon 730G along-side 6GB Ram and 128GB storage. It is powered by a 3140 Mah battery with 18 Watt fast charging. It comes with the old style back fingerprint sensor, which I think is the best place for a fingerprint scanner.
It dominates the camera segment with just a 12.2MP camera, which takes stunning photos. On the front, there is an 8MP sensor.
It comes in one and only one variant, one and only one colour. 6GB RAM 128GB storage and just Black.
With its main competitors being the One Plus NORD in the Indian market, let's see how it compares.
1. Apart from the fact that NORD has a 90Hz refresh rate both the phones have no difference and both look beautiful to the eye.
2. Though the battery in the NORD is 25% bigger, both the phones should last you the whole day unless you are a heavy user.
3. When comparing the chipsets, 765G used by the NORD is 20% faster than the pixel and both would do you good for everyday usage.
4. Coming to the cameras, numbers and pixels do not matter in the 21st century. Google computational algorithms with photos is unmatched in the industry. The absence of a wide-angle lens could be a downside for the Pixel 4A.
Google also bundles some offers with the pixel 4A. You get access to Youtube premium, 100GB cloud storage and Play Pass for 3 months after which you can either drop it or renew.
This is by far the best hardware google has ever produced with an aggressive screen to body ratio. If you are a camera geek like me and the photos you take the matter a lot, I would recommend the PIXEL 4A. It stands tall with unmatched camera performance in this price segment. It is an all-round package.
If you are a heavy user and 90Hz refresh rate are what you want go with the one plus Nord. It is a complete package with not so good cameras.
One of the perks of being a pixel user is you run the latest and the best software. You will also be the first person to experience the new Android updates, and Google has promised a minimum of 3 years of updates to the pixel 4A. that means you will get updates till Android 13. This is one of the features that set apart the pixel from the other mid-rangers.
The Indian pricing is not yet known. Going by the US pricing it would fall around 24k. It will be sold on Flipkart, though the exact day is not yet announced.
